World Champion Dancer, qualified Personal Trainer and TV personality Karen Hauer is a leading voice in fitness, wellness and self-care. Karen lives a very active lifestyle but also knows the power of rest for recovery. Her favourite way to stay active during any downtime is by taking long walks with her dogs and her best way to unwind at the end of a long day is to add magnesium salts to the bath before bed!
Karen has partnered with Holland & Barrett to share her knowledge and encourage you to take good care of your joints, bones and muscles.
We’ve put together a 30-day movement calendar, with the help of Karen Hauer and a stamp of approval from The British Society Lifestyle Medicine, just for you! Don’t worry, it’s tailored to your needs with small challenges each day to help you form really healthy habits to help improve your overall health and wellness.
We’ve added challenges like turning a meeting into a “walk and talk” and dancing whilst the kettle boils. So, if you're up for it, we want to make moving more fun!
Before starting this challenge, you could book a 15-minute conversation today to check in on your joints, bones and muscles.
– and we’re continually growing, thanks to specialists like our Digital Health Lead, Fiona Sweny.
Fiona has highlighted squats as her favourite exercise from the 30-day challenge. She says, "squat exercises aren’t just for athletes. They're a strengthening exercise that targets your lower body, in particular your glutes (in your bottom) and your quadriceps which are the muscles at the front of your thigh. There are other muscles that also support you as you squat, but the glutes and quadriceps are the primary movers."
As a former Army Officer and a qualified physiotherapist, Fiona really knows her stuff when it comes to getting set for more movement. Her career as a physiotherapist includes working for England Rugby and The Royal Ballet School.
