A Registered Nutritionist, Anita Bean’s love for food and fascination with science led her to pursue a degree in Nutrition and Food Science at the University of Surrey. Her passion for weightlifting fuelled her competitive spirit, culminating in her becoming the British bodybuilding champion in 1991. She combined her enthusiasm for sport and nutrition into a successful career, working within the NHS and the Dairy Council before launching her own nutrition consultancy in 1990.

As a prolific author, she has written over 30 books, including the best-selling "The Complete Guide to Sports Nutrition," recommended reading for many nutrition courses. Her recent works focus on plant-based diets for athletes. Though her competitive days are behind her, Anita stays active through yoga, strength workouts, cycling, and walking. Inspired by her daughters, both national-level swimmers, Anita remains committed to making nutrition relevant and engaging through her writing, speaking, and consultancy work.
