Remove the stones from your dates and fold each one out so that they lie flat on a piece of cling film. Arrange each date next to another so that you make a square base, around five dates wide and five dates long.
Cover with a piece of baking paper, and using a glass or rolling pin, flatten down firmly so that the dates stick together.
Remove the baking paper and add an apple to the middle of the dates. Pull the cling film up and using your hands, firmly mould the dates, to the apple.
Remove the cling film from the outside, and you should be left with an apple that's covered in the dates.
Repeat steps one to four for each of your apples.
Melt the chocolate by adding it to a microwave safe bowl and heating for 20 seconds in the microwave. Take out and stir, repeating until the chocolate has melted.
Cover each apple with chocolate, roll in the mixed nuts and set in the fridge for at least two hours, or until the chocolate is hard.
Top tip: Add the sticks to the top of each apple before putting in the fridge, if using.
Remove from the fridge and enjoy!
