How to make your own cinnamon tree decorations

Why buy your Christmas decorations when you can make these festively fragrant cinnamon tree ones at home? They’re simple to make in just three quick steps and will fill your home with the delightful smells of cinnamon, orange and spice.

Ingredients  

• Twine
• Star Anise
• Cinnamon Sticks
• Dried Orange
• Glue

Optional extras:

• Sweet orange essential oil
• Whole nutmegs

Method

Step 1 Pick 5-8 cinnamon sticks of a similar length and bundle them all together. Use a long bit of twine and tie it around the middle of the bundle, securely fastening it with a tight knot. Step 2 Take another piece of twine and tie into a loop. Glue this to the centre of the twine bundle - this is how you’ll hang the decoration on your tree. Step 3 Take a full dried orange slice and glue a star anise onto the centre of it. Fix this to the cinnamon bundle using glue. If you want to go a step further, make some holes in whole nutmegs using a drill and feed them through the ends of the twine before tying it in a knot. You could also try infusing the decorations with a few drops of orange essential oil for an added sweet smell!
